Panel tasked with assuring recovery efforts go as planned.
On Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that the House of Representatives would be creating a new committee dedicated to overseeing the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The newly created committee would have subpoena power allowing it to get the most up to date information from the executive branch. Members of both parties will be included in the roster.
Ultimately, “the panel will root out waste, fraud and abuse; it will protect against price-gauging, profiteering and political favoritism,” according to Speaker Pelosi. “The fact is, we do need transparency and accountability.” Representative James Clyburn will be leading the panel’s check on how the Trump administration carries out the health and economic recovery from COVID-19
